The less obvious solutions are breaking into the excavation by using lockpicks or stealing the mentionedkeyfromCalcelmo.

Personally I wouldn’t recommend such option, as eliminating the spider will prove necessary either way.

Start exploring the excavation site.

Your objective is reaching the its south-west part.

Kill the lesserFrostbite Spiderthat you come across and destroy the spider-webs with any weapon or spells.

Inside the main room you will need to fight the biggest spider who Calcelmo mentioned,Nimhe.

Note that therefore you gained access to the door leading to the main area ofNchuand-Zel.

It’s somewhat of a hub, so you will visit this location multiple times.

For now head south, staying on the wide bridge and eliminating theFalmersyou come across on your way.

Start off by heading back to the starting point of the control room you’re currently in, i.e.

the door leading to the main part ofNchuand-Zel.

Head towards the gate leading to theNchuand-Zel excavation site, eliminating theFalmersandDwarven Spidersthat you come across if needed.

Now you oughta head through the whole excavation, though you shouldn’t meet any new enemies here.

After getting back toUnderstone Keep, findCalcelmo.
