From time to time they will lay an egg in the pen.
You have to collect them - just walk into them.

However keep in mind that it will grow back eventually.
If you want, you’re able to buy more chickens, even 20.
You will have proportionally more eggs (around 20 per day).
The return on investment won’t change - you will still need 4 days to regain the invested cash.
