It provides you protection against firearms and cannot protect you from, for example, fall.

When you die you go to the nearest hospital.
Map and GPS
Map is your best friend in Liberty City.
It shows nearby streets, locations and your targets.
Additionally, when in car, it shows you way to selected waypoint.
PressingD-pad downzooms map out.
Cell phone
To activate cell phone pressD-pad up.
You navigate through menus usingD-pad.
To confirm your selection pressA, to cancel -B.
Keep in mind, that game is not paused when you use your phone.
And don’t forget to turn it off when you’re done - by pressingBtill it disappears.
Additionally, just after you select your cell, pressD-pad upto activate cell’s keyboard.
