Buildings from this category are necessary for the country to exist and prosper.

Docks,ConstructionOffices,TeamstersOfficesandRoadsare available from the beginning.

Every new dock provides with an additional trade ship to your fleet.

The game doesn’t let you demolishConstructionOfficesorDocks, if there is only one of each kind on your island.

Electricityis available in theWorldWarsera.

First, you gain a simplePowerPlant, supplied bycoal, which you should replace withgasduring theColdWarera.

InModernTimes,GeothermalPowerPlantis available, whichdoesn’t require any resources, but provides little energy compared toNuclearPowerPlant.

Here you will find Plantations, Ranches, Mines and other buildings that provide raw resources.

Some of these buildings are better version of older structures, such asAutomatedMineorFactoryFarm.

Ranchescause gradual worsening of the ground on which they are built.

This building is cheap, so placing it somewhere else shouldn’t be a problem.

Besides, the ground regenerates itself when it is not used by aRanch.

This category contains buildings that produce usual goods.

These buildings (except forLumberMill) are available only from theWorldWarsera.

To produce goods, they require particular resources, so you will have to double-check that they are available.

It is worth the trouble,because the products are much more expensive in exportthan their substrata.

Every building, again besidesLumberMill, requires employees with secondary education at least.

Hiring people from abroad is very expensive, so you should build at least twoHighSchoolson the island.

In this category, which is a rather artificial one, you will find more industry buildings.

They however produce luxury goods, such ascigars,rumorcars.

Sometimes even with higher education.

They may also require a combination of resources.

Goods that they produce areeven more valuable in export.

People, entertainment and tourism

Residential buildings differ throughout the eras.

During the next era, you will be able to buildHousesandTenements.

Cold Warwill bringApartments, which are the best choice to build.

AllTenementscan be now upgraded to this standard.

This category contains basic entertainment buildings and, oddly enough,WasteTreatmentPlant.

Tavernshould be built very early - this willincrease the level of Entertainmentat the first stage of the game.

More buildings will appear as you advance to different eras.

PlaceGardensonly there, where you cannot build anything else.They increase the level of beauty in the vicinity.

Profitability of buildings likeTavernsor tourist resorts depends on this factor.

Waste Treatment Plantwill allow you to reduce the level of pollution to about a half of the starting amount.

It is good also to issue a properEdict, aboutwastesorting, which will reduce the pollution in residential areas.

Most of the buildings of this category appears only during theColdWarera andrequire electricity.

Tourism buildings appear in theColdWarera.

However, Wealthy Tourists won’t start coming to the island untilModernTimes.

There’s little point in building small lodgings- you should aim for the bigger ones right from the start.

Airportswill noticeably increase the inflow of tourists.

Society and military

This category provides buildings that support the need of your citizens.

You shouldupgrade themso that more patients could be treated.

Police Stations, afterupgrading, can serveasfirestations, which are necessary during volcano eruptions.

NewspaperandTVStation(where is radio?)

will satisfy the need forfreedom, despite the propaganda.

Two buildings from this category (HighSchoolandCollege) provide education for the citizens.

College,after upgrading, will generatea lot of research points.

It is good to have severalBarracksandArmyBasesspread across the city.

Rebels come from various spots and sometimes the army won’t make it on timeto save the attacked building.
